Is Your Business Showing Up When
People Ask AI for Recommendations?

The way people find fishing lodges and hunting camps has changed forever. If ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity aren't talking about you, you're invisible.

What These AI Tools Are

A lot of people hear the letters “AI” and picture something spooky, sneaky, or out of control. That is not the best way to think about it. A better way is to picture a very fast computer assistant that reads huge amounts of online material, spots patterns in words, and then replies in a human-style way. It is not a person. It does not “think” like a person. It does not sit there with opinions and feelings. It is software that takes a question, looks at what it has learned or what it can find online, and then gives back an answer in everyday language.

That opening matters because many business owners are uneasy about these tools. They worry that AI is some kind of dark box that will replace websites, hide businesses, or make up random stories. There is some truth to the worry that bad answers can happen, but the bigger truth is much simpler: these tools are already being used by regular people every day... If your business is not showing up in that web of answers, another business might.

ChatGPT

OpenAI Ecosystem

ChatGPT is a chat-based AI tool from OpenAI. A person types a question in normal language, and ChatGPT replies in a normal language style. It can write, summarize, answer questions, and in many cases search the web when the topic would be better with fresh outside material. In plain words, it is like a smart text assistant that can either lean on what it has already learned or go out and pull in current web sources when needed.

Gemini

Google Ecosystem

Gemini is Google’s AI assistant. It works in a chat style too, but it sits closer to Google’s own world. Google says Gemini can work with connected Google services and apps, including Search, YouTube, Maps, News, Flights, Hotels, and Google Workspace in some setups. In plain terms, that means Gemini may be shaped by the same giant online world that Google already reads and sorts every day.

Perplexity

Answer Engine

Perplexity is often easier to picture as an answer engine tied very tightly to live web search. Perplexity says that when a user asks a question, it searches the internet in real time, gathers good sources, and turns them into a clear reply with citations. So while ChatGPT feels like a chat assistant and Gemini feels tied to Google’s world, Perplexity feels much closer to an online research tool that speaks back in a simple way.

Copilot

Microsoft Ecosystem

Copilot is Microsoft’s AI assistant. Many people meet it inside inside Microsoft products or on the web. It works in a similar style: ask a question, get a written reply. It also uses live information in many cases, and Microsoft describes this as “grounding,” which means answers are tied to relevant outside data rather than only old learned material. In simple words, Copilot is Microsoft’s version of a chat assistant that can pull in live source material too.

"So when someone says, “I’m scared of AI,” the best reply is often this: you are already dealing with a new kind of search."

How These Tools Build Their Answers

This is the part many business owners really want to know. Where do these answers come from?

The first part comes from training... But training alone is not enough for many real-world questions. Fishing reports shift. Seasons shift. travel facts shift. Lodge offers shift. Road info shifts. Regulations shift. New blog posts go live. New videos go up. So for many topics, these tools work better when they also pull in fresh outside material from the open web.

Google’s own Search material gives a very plain picture of how this works on the web. Google uses crawlers to find pages. It downloads text, images, and videos. It then indexes that material, which means it stores and sorts it so it can be found later when someone asks a question. Once a page, image, or video is known and indexed, it has a shot at showing up in search results and in the online material that other AI systems draw from. (Google for Developers)

Why YouTube and Blogs Matter

A good blog post is not just “filler” on a website. It is a page that answers a real question. A post about spring pike tactics... gives search engines and AI systems more usable wording to read.

YouTube matters too. A lot. Google’s own material says that for a video to show well in search, Google needs to find the page, fetch the video, and understand enough about it. (Google for Developers)

The Big Takeaway

AI is not magic. It is not a ghost in the machine. It is a new way people search, ask, and get replies. ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and other tools still need source material. They need pages, videos, names, places, topics, and real-world facts they can find and sort.

So the businesses that stand the best chance of showing up are often the ones that give the web more strong, clear, useful material to read.

Proven Strategy

How I Can Help Your Lodge Dominate

I can create short YouTube videos and matching blog posts that put your lodge, camp, or outfitting business in front of the kinds of questions people are already asking. These are not long, overblown sales pieces. They are short, easy, useful items built around what real anglers, hunters, and trip planners want to know.

The Multiplier Effect

"Instead of only relying on your own main website, your business now has more “entry points” on the web. It gives AI tools more places to read about you, more ways to match what users are asking, and more paths back to your business."

I help you get mentioned in the settings that fit what people are actually asking.
